Maple Ginger Glazed Shrimp Skewers
Ingredients
- 500 g (1 lb) large shrimp, peeled and de-veined, tails left on
- 85 mL (1/3 cup) maple taffy
- 2.5 mL (1/2 tsp) each salt and pepper
- 30 mL (2 tbsp) each rice vinegar and fresh orange juice
- 15 mL (1 tbsp) minced fresh ginger
- 2.5 mL (1/2 tsp) hot pepper sauce
- 2.5 mL (1/2 tsp) each grated orange zest and sesame oil
- Toasted sesame seeds (optional)
- Fresh chopped coriander (optional)
Directions
- Preheat an indoor or outdoor grill to medium-high
- Soak 16 short wooden skewers in cold water for 30 minutes
- Thread two shrimp onto each skewer. Sprinkle evenly with salt and pepper.
- Blend the maple taffy with rice vinegar, orange juice, ginger, hot sauce, orange zest and sesame oil
- Brush half of the glaze all over the shrimp and grill for 3 minutes per side or until shrimp are glazed, well-marked and no longer translucent
- Baste with remaining glaze before removing from grill
- Sprinkle with sesame seeds and coriander if desired
